Three Days of National Mourning in Argentina

The President's Office reported that President Javier Milei will decree three days of national mourning for the death of compatriots in the storm last Friday in the city of Bahía Blanca and its surroundings. In record time since the alerts about this catastrophe were raised, the National Government made all its resources available for rescue, evacuation, medical treatment, accommodation, and more.

"The Ministry of National Security and the Federal Emergency Agency activated the National System for Comprehensive Risk Management (SINAGIR), through which the Naval Prefecture, the National Gendarmerie, and the Ministry of Defense, which deployed the Armed Forces, were sent to the field to assist the affected with land and river evacuation vehicles," highlighted the President's Office.

The opening of the barracks of the Communications Battalion 181 and the Naval Base Puerto Belgrano as evacuation centers was ordered. The involved forces continue to work alongside local and provincial authorities in locating those who are still being searched for by their families. In addition, the Ministry of Human Capital transported necessary basic supplies and the Ministry of Health provided ambulances, medications, and a mobile hospital with 40 beds.

The National Government decreed three days of mourning for the victims of the storm that struck the city of Bahía Blanca, with a provisional toll of 16 dead and enormous material damage. The Ministry of Economy approved an extraordinary financial aid of $10 billion to the municipality of Bahía Blanca for the repair of the damages caused and direct assistance in the city's recovery process.

All areas of the National Government will remain focused, along with the municipality of Bahía Blanca and the Province of Buenos Aires, on assisting the victims in this time of pain for all Argentinians.
